Clifton Moor Clearance Shop Volunteer

Our Clearance Shop depends on the support of dedicated volunteers to help in a range of roles, from serving customers on the shop floor to keeping stock organised and well presented. By volunteering with us, you’ll play an important part in making the most of every donation, helping to give unsold items from our other shops a sustainable second chance while raising vital funds for St Leonard’s Hospice.

As part of our retail team of 15 shops and a Donation Centre across the local area, the Clearance Shop not only generates essential income through the sale of pre-loved goods, but also helps represent the Hospice in communities across our catchment area.

When am I needed?

The shop is open Monday – Saturday 9am – 4:30pm and 10am – 4pm on a Sunday.

Morning shifts tend to run 9am – 1pm, Afternoon shifts tend to run 12:30pm – 4:30pm although other shifts can be accommodated as long as they are at least 2 hours in length.

Weekly or fortnightly shifts are preferred.

What will I be doing?

Some examples of the types of things you could help with:

  • Tagging items to be sold
  • Restocking the shop floor with items to be sold
  • Serving customers on the till

What skills and qualities will I need?

  • Positive attitude and ability to provide great customer service
  • Full training will be provided so a willingness to learn new skills or bring your own skills and knowledge to the role
  • Ability to work under the instruction of the manager and work as part of a team of volunteers
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion

Support and Supervision

Volunteers will be supervised by the Clifton Moor Shop managers, supported by the St Leonard’s Hospice Retail Team, who together will provide you with general training and liaise closely with you over all aspects of your role.

The Volunteer Services Team will help guide you through the application and induction process and be your point of contact for general enquiries about volunteering.

Training

Volunteers are required to complete mandatory training modules which are usually delivered via our online platform. Additional, booster and refresher training may be delivered as needed via e-learning, video links or face to face. You may also be invited to attend role specific in person meetings where appropriate.
