Ecommerce Photography Volunteer

We are looking for volunteers to carefully photograph items to make them stand out online and ensure items are accurately represented. Our ecommerce department raises vital funds through the sale of pre-loved goods and sell thousands of valuable, rare and interesting items every year.

When am I needed?

The ecommerce office is currently located in the Acomb Furniture shop and will be moving to Clifton Moor in early summer 2026. It is open Monday – Friday 9:00am-4:00pm.

Morning shifts tend to run 9:00am – 12:00pm, Afternoon shifts tend to run 1:00pm – 4:00pm although other shifts can be accommodated as long as they are at least 2 hours in length. Weekly or fortnightly shifts are preferred.

Currently we have space for extra volunteers on: Monday AM & PM, Wednesday PM, Thursday PM and Friday AM & PM

What will I be doing?

  • Take high quality, visually striking images of a diverse range of products – from designer clothing to vintage toys, homeware and collectibles
  • Arrange individual and large job lot items attractively
  • Capture any item flaws to make sure listings are accurate
  • Use a smartphone to upload pictures to eBay

What skills and qualities will I need?

  • Comfortable using a smartphone along with other technology
  • Have a keen eye for detail.
  • Be able to work independently and also as part of the wider ecommerce team.

Support and Supervision

Retail volunteers report to the Ecommerce Development Manager who will provide you with full training and liaise closely with you over all aspects of your role.

The Volunteer Services Team will help guide you through the application and induction process and be your point of contact for general enquiries about volunteering.

Training

Volunteers are required to complete mandatory training modules which are usually delivered via our online platform. Additional, booster and refresher training may be delivered as needed via e-learning, video links or face to face. You may also be invited to attend role specific in person meetings where appropriate.
