Shop Manager

As St Leonard’s Hospice embarks on a major project to expand its retail operation at Clifton Moor, we’re recruiting a Shop Manager to work in the furniture and £1 clearance shop to manage in the day-to-day running of it, delivering an efficient, organised and customer focussed operation to maximise income for the Hospice. Every interaction with our customers, whether that be through purchases or donations will help us to continue to provide care and support to local people with life limiting illnesses.

Once the furniture and £1 clearance shop is set up, your main responsibilities as Shop Manager will be to:

• Maximise store sales, profits and meet KPIs through management of stock, visual merchandising and commercial analysis
• Provide a high level of customer service to donors and customers and uphold the Hospice values and Retail Service principles
• Line manage the shop team including paid staff and shop volunteers in the delivery of the shop retail plan by supporting and coaching them to reach their maximum potential

Our ideal candidates will have:

• Experience of working in the retail sector
• Experience of successfully managing staff and/ or volunteers
• Proven interpersonal skills and be able to communicate at all levels within the Hospice and to the general public
• Excellent organisational skills including attention to detail and prioritising their workload and being able to use their initiative to drive footfall and sales

This is a full -time position working 5 days over 7 which will include weekend working on a rotational basis.

This is an exciting time to join the Hospice team as you will be involved in the setting up of the new shop and under the guidance of the Retail Management team will be able to make an impact on how it looks! The new 16,000 sq. ft facility will bring together a furniture and £1 clearance shop and drive-up donation centre, with separate offices for our income generation team to operate from, including our e-commerce team, and will provide a major new source of sustainable income to fund our Hospice’s care.
