Hairdressing is one of the many services we provide to those using our services which help to promote a feeling of wellbeing. Our volunteer hairdressers find their sessions highly enjoyable and rewarding, and the patients very much appreciate the service.
When am I needed?
We would like someone who can help either once a week or fortnightly on a Thursday, usually for two or three hours at a time, but appointments can be scheduled in to suit your availability. If you would be open to coming in on an ad hoc basis, please mention this.

Support and Supervision
Hairdresser volunteers report to the Complementary Therapy Lead who will support you to understand the unique needs of the patients and overcome any mobility challenges to enable the patient to have their hair cut/styled.
The Volunteer Services Department staff will help with your induction and be your point of contact for general enquiries about volunteering.
Training
Volunteers are required to complete our standard mandatory training modules, which are delivered via our online platform. Additional, booster and refresher training may be delivered as needed via e-learning, video links or face to face.
You may also be invited to attend additional wellbeing training if you are able and interested in joining in.
For all volunteering enquiries please contact the Volunteer Services Office on 01904 777765 or email volunteers@stleonardshospice.org.uk
About the Hospice
The St Leonard’s Wellbeing Service encompasses a range of services to support patients affected by life-limiting illnesses, as well as their families, friends, and carers, across our region. These services are held at the Hospice, or in suitable venues throughout our community and in patient’s homes.
St Leonard’s Hospice provides care and support to those living with life-limiting illnesses and to the people they care about. We couldn’t carry out the important work we do without a committed and talented team of Volunteers and Supporters – people of all ages, and from all walks of life who help us provide care, assistance, and support throughout the organisation, as well as promoting the work of the hospice in local communities and raising crucial funds.
